Three of Vancouver’s favourite dining destinations are back in action this week as Glowbal Restaurant Group announces plans to introduce take-out and delivery service at Glowbal, Coast and Italian Kitchen.

After closing temporarily in March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the former full-service restaurants will resume take out business starting Wednesday, April 22. Each of the three Vancouver-based eateries have brought back numerous employees to prepare chef-designed menus that are perfect for at-home dining. Take-out menus from Glowbal, Coast and Italian Kitchen will be available daily from 11:30am to 9 p.m. for contactless pick-up at the individual restaurant locations or for home delivery via Skip the Dishes, Door Dash and Uber Eats.

The hospitality group’s flagship restaurant Glowbal will be offering a limited menu of West-Coast-inspired comfort foods, including artisanal salads, delectable appetizers and pasta dishes, and hearty mains like slow-braised lamb shank with buttermilk mashed potatoes, halibut and chips, and roasted chicken with market veggies. The downtown restaurant also has two features on offer: a ‘Family Meal for Four’ ($60) that includes Caesar salad and oven-baked four-cheese rigatoni, plus a bottle of house red or white wine; and a ‘Friday Burger and Beer Combo’ ($14) that includes Glowbal’s signature 9 oz. beef burger paired with a bottle of beer or pop available exclusively for pick-up at the restaurant on Fridays.

Award-winning seafood restaurant Coast invites diners to recreate an upscale sushi experience at home with a selection of handmade nigiri, sashimi, hand-made sushi rolls and cones available for pickup or delivery. Featuring sustainably sourced seafood and gluten-free options, the exclusive take-out menu includes a variety of bite-sized classic and signature sushi, all designed to be enjoyed at home.

Known for its Old World Italian cuisine, Italian Kitchen’s new take-out menu boasts a variety of classic and modern pastas and a hearty entrees inspired by the Mediterranean. Diners can choose from a selection of fresh insalata and antipasti to start – including an assemble-at-home charcuterie board – main dishes featuring a choice of chicken or veal, and a dozen signature pasta options such as pappardelle ragu, seafood linguine and wild mushroom gnocchi. Earlier this month, Glowbal Restaurant Group also re-opened Trattoria locations in Kitsilano and Burnaby with a take-out menus available for both pick-up and delivery in local areas.

Customers who place an order for pick-up or delivery from Glowbal, Coast, Italian Kitchen or Trattoria also have the option to add a $10 charitable donation to their bill to help support Glowbal Restaurant Group’s community outreach efforts. The hospitality group will match all customer donations and utilize the funds to support its meal delivery service to healthcare workers, local charities and at-risk groups. Since mid-March, Glowbal has delivered more than 6,950 meals to individuals in-need during the COVID-19 crisis.

“It’s been an incredibly challenging couple of months for the restaurant industry and we’ve been forced to re-think our business model, pivoting from full-service dining experiences to take-out and delivery,” says Emad Yacoub. “We’re doing everything we can as a company to ensure our staff are able to keep working in safe conditions while providing customers with delicious meals and a sense of normalcy during this difficult period.”
